In Talladega County, a man who operated a convenience store was shot to death this morning at Jenkins Store on Stockdale Road.
It was just after 8:00 AM Friday, when the owner of Jenkins Grocery store in Munford was shot and killed in what police are calling an attempted robbery turned homicide.
The suspect was injured when the store owner returned gunfire.
The suspect was airlifted to Birmingham. There's no update as to his condition.
Talladega police chief Jason Busby says right now, his department is still conducting interviews, collecting witness statements and reviewing evidence.
The name of the victim has not been released.
No charges have been filed in this case right now. Anyone with any information on this crime should contact the Talladega Police Department. Busby says he's confident there are no other suspects wanted in this case.
