The Alabama Music Hall of Fame has set a target date to open the Tuscumbia tourist attraction. The TimesDaily of Florence reports that Music Hall of Fame board members hope to reopen the facility by Oct. 17.
According to The TimesDaily, the Alabama Music Hall of Fame was closed in December and the Hall of Fame website says its museum closed in August due to lack of funding. State Tourism Director Lee Sentell tells the newspaper that the scheduled opening date is the day before the opening of the documentary “Muscle Shoals” in Birmingham.
The opening will reportedly be long term with the state providing a $150,000 grant. State Finance Director Bill Newton said some of that money will be used to hire fewer than five people before the opening. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame is located on Highway 72 in Tuscumbia.
