The U.S. Supreme Court Associate Judge Elena Kagan will visit a state university next week. The Associated Press reports Associate Judge Elena Kagan has accepted an invitation to speak at the University of Alabama law school in Tuscaloosa.
Kagan will reportedly speak on Oct. 4 at the Albritton Lecture, named for retired U.S. District Judge W. Harold Albritton of Andalusia. Kagan was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Barack Obama in 2010 and has previously served as U.S. solicitor general the year before.
According to the AP, ten Supreme Court justices have spoken in the past at the University of Alabama’s law lecture series. Albritton is a 1960 UA School of Law graduate and was nominated for the U.S. District Court Judge for the Middle District of Alabama by President George H.W. Bush in 1991.
