A student and lacrosse player for Auburn University was arrested in Baton Rouge over the weekend after he allegedly wanted to see what it was really like to play the video game Grand Theft Auto. WVLA-TV in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, reports 20-year-old Zachary Burgess of Hoover told that to police when he was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, nine counts of hit and run and one charge of simple kidnapping.
Police tell the television station they responded to numerous reports of hit-and-runs in the parking lot of a bar. According to WVLA-TV, Burgess allegedly tried to steal the pickup truck with a female sitting in the passenger seat. He reportedly began ramming into parked cars before the passenger was able to jump out of the vehicle to safety. Burgess was released the following day after posting an $80,000 bond.
