A Gadsden man was arrested and charged in connection with a home invasion and robbery of a elderly woman Monday night, Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said.
Allen Whitmore, 41, is charged with one felony count of third-degree robbery after he allegedly forced his way into a woman's home on Causey Lane in the Ivalee community around 9:30 p.m. and proceeded to steal cash, jewelry and car keys from the victim.
According to investigators, Whitmore pushed the woman down causing her minor injuries during the robbery.
Information obtained at the victim's home led deputies to a Gadsden home, where they found Whitmore hiding in a bathroom. The suspect was taken into custody and all of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim.
Whitmore is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
