Cleburne County has received $300,000 to clean up illegal dump sites.
County officials are hoping to turn the Alabama Department of Environmental Management grant into a long term solution. They would like to form an environmental services program to serve cities within the county an unincorporated areas.
Illegal dumping is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of at least $250 and court costs.
