A workshop in Calhoun Co. will address the rising number of elder abuse cases in parts of eastern Alabama.
The East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission is hosting a free workshop Thursday, Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, located at 1205 Quintard Avenue in Anniston.
Experts will talk about the issues impacting the area's seniors. One expert says the elderly can become isolated from friends and family, which can leave them vulnerable to those who are looking to take advantage of them.
The event is free but attendees must pre-register by calling 256-435-5091.
