The Prichard Police Department is looking for a man accused of breaking into a home and inappropriately touching an 8-year-old girl before fleeing the residence early Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to a home on Superior Drive around 3:35 a.m. on Tuesday after a girl told her mother she had been inappropriately touched by a stranger, said Interim Prichard Police Chief Dorothy Ferrell.
The girl had been lying on a palette with her cousin when an unidentified black man wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans came into the room and "rubbed across her private parts," Ferrell said.
Her mother contacted police while the man fled from the home, police said.
Investigators have determined the man got into the house through an unlocked window.
Anyone with information on the man can call PPD at 251-452-2211.
