A 17-year-old Briarwood Christian School student died in a weekend crash.
Shelby County authorities said the single-vehicle accident happened around 11 p.m. Saturday on Highway 39 in Chelsea. The victim has been identified as Joseph Christopher Honea.
School officials said Honea was a member of the band. Grief counselors were at the school Monday, and there was a special morning service honoring the teenager's life.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
