A Talladega man has been arrested for statutory rape, according to interim police chief Jason Busby.
The 20-year-old suspect allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl Wednesday night, at his residence. The girl reported it to a patrol officer, who turned it over to an investigator.
The suspect was taken into custody without further incident after being interviewed by the investigator.
Rape in the second degree is defined as sex between a victim between the ages of 12 and 16 and a perpetrator over the age of 18 and at least three years older than the victim. Rape in the second degree is a Class B felony in Alabama, punishable upon conviction by two to 20 years in prison.
