A father and son are hospitalized after the father attempted to out run a Jefferson County Sheriff deputy.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening a sheriff patrol deputy observed a white vechicle speeding and driving recklessly on highway 269 towards Birmingham.
When the deputy pulled the vehicle over ,the driver suddenly turned across traffic and headed north on Highway 269 away from Birmingham. The deputy chased the suspect for several miles before he called the chase off.
Later down the road the deputy saw smoke and realized the suspect's vehicle had wrecked in a construction zone.
The 40 year old father who was driving the car, and his 19 year old son were both found inside the vehicle with unknown injuries. Both men were transported to UAB Hospital.
Multiple alcoholic berverage containers as well as drug paraphernalia were found in the suspect's vehicle.
