Justin Shade's standout performance on Saturday resulted in award winning recognition on Monday.
The Samford linebacker is the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Shade had 10 tackles, including two for loss, and forced two fumbles in the Bulldogs 31-21 loss to Arkansas.
The Bulldogs led 21-17 in the fourth quarter before the Razorbacks rallied to spoil the upset bid.
Samford (1-1) travels to Florida A&M on Saturday.
