Ryan Newman will join Richard Childress Racing and drive the No. 31 Chevrolet next season.
Newman will replace Jeff Burton.
"This is a great opportunity for our team," Richard Childress said in a release Monday. "I am very proud to have Ryan in our No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet starting next year. We have high expectations for this No. 31 team. Ryan has proven himself to be a great driver and I'm looking forward to winning races with him."
Newman has been part of the Stewart-Haas Race team the past five seasons. He missed qualifying for a spot in Nascar's Chase for the Sprint Cup championship three times at SHR, including this season. Despite missing the Chase, Newman has posted 12 top-10 finishes and six top fives including a win in the Brickyard 400 during the 2013 season
