Walker High School football players are heading into the second game of the season with heavy hearts.
With the resignation of their head football coach John Holladay on Tuesday, they are still forging on and they have the support to back them.
"I wasn't going to come tonight and I kind of started, kept thinking about it all day and decided I would go ahead and come anyway," said Eddie Glass.
Glass' daughter is on Walker's dance team. He feels after last week's incident that support is needed more than ever for the kids.
"Their spirits kind of down. You know, they kind of had a surprise pep rally today to try to kind of boost the team," said Glass.
Friday afternoon Holladay released a statement.
He said, "to the students of Walker High School, I also ask for your forgiveness and ask that you do not let your passion for the Golden Vikings fade because of this incident."
He went on to apologize to his sons, Cullman's assistant coach Matt Hopper and school board members.
"If you lose your coach you just make the best of it and go on," said Michael Cooper.
"We support each other through everything. We're always there. Have a great support group. We love each other," said Steve Williams.
Both schools have been sanctioned by the AHSAA. Cullman played at home against East Limestone.
