Motorists traveling on Interstate 20 this week may experience delays, according to the Alabama Department of Transportation.
In a release, ALDOT said that, if the weather permits, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks on I-20 East between mile markers 147 and 156 for lane closures beginning Sunday, 7 p.m. until Monday morning, for paving. The same construction will occur Monday evening until Tuesday morning, and Tuesday evening until Wednesday morning.
Starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, state troopers will conduct rolling roadblocks on I-20 West between mile markers 147 and 156. The same construction will occur Thursday evening until Friday morning.
This work is part of the ALDOT’s Progress 20 project to widen the last four-lane segment of I-20 in St. Clair County, between Pell City and Moody.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Officials have urged motorists to consider alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work-zone speed limits and other work-zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. State troopers will control traffic and strictly enforce speed limits.
