(WDNG) - A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a recent string of vehicle break-ins. Police on Tuesday arrested 23-year-old Johnathan Michel Wimbs in Jacksonville for his alleged role in a recent string of vehicle break-ins. Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said on Wednesday that Wimbs was identified using video surveillance from area businesses where stolen credit cards were used to make purchases.
Wimbs is currently facing 16 charges of breaking and entering a motor vehicle and two charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and Sparks said that more charges may be coming. Anniston police began investigating a growing number of vehicle break-ins about two weeks ago and on Aug. 16 charged 22-year-old Justin Aundre Lee with six counts of breaking and entering a vehicle and fraudulent use of a credit card.
Sparks said that Lee was released and re-arrested and now faces 18 charges. According to Sparks, investigators believe that Wimbs and Lee were working together and more arrests are still a possibility. As of Wednesday morning, Wimbs was being held in the Anniston jail on a $245,000 bond and Lee was being booked into the Anniston jail.
