The youth pastor wanted for impersonating a peace officer is arrested shortly after a television interview. WVTM-TV reports The Basement youth ministry founder Matt Pitt was arrested around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the television station’s parking lot. A warrant was reportedly issued for the 30-year-old Pitt’s arrest on Friday on charges that he impersonated a police officer in June.
AL.com reports Pitt pleaded guilty to similar charges in 2012 and received a suspended 12-month sentence and was placed on two years of unsupervised probation.
According to WVTM-TV, Pitt agreed to conduct an interview with a reporter of the television station during which he said he had to plead guilty last year because he did not have an attorney with him in court.
The television station reports that Pitt was arrested in their parking lot near Vulcan park. He was reportedly released from jail about an hour later on $15,000 bond.
