(WDNG) - Alabama’s lieutenant governor has been appointed to co-chair a newly-formed military affairs committee. Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey says in a release on Tuesday that she has been named Co-Chair of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association State Strategies in Military Affairs committe.
The appointment was made by NLGA Chair Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb. According to Tuesday’s release, the committee is a forum for lieutenant governors to collectively advance conversation about the effect on states of federal actions related to the military.
The committee will reportedly work with other state leaders and federal delegations on pressing military issues such as the Base Realignment and Closure process and sequestration. Montana Lt. Gov. John Walsh will also serve a Co-Chair of the new committee.
The National Lieutenant Governor’s Association, or the NLGA, is the professional association which provides research to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and U.S. territories.
