Youth evangelist Matt Pitt was arrested Tuesday night after a brief run from Jefferson County sheriff's deputies and Birmingham police officers.
Pitt, who was charged with impersonating a peace officer last week, was apprehended near 20th Street in the Vulcan area. He had been at a local television station for an interview when authorities were notified of his location.
The sheriff's office asked for assistance from the Birmingham Police Department and shortly after arriving, Pitt took off on foot into a wooded area. After a brief struggle with officers, Pitt was taken into custody and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
