Defense attorneys in Alabama's gambling corruption trial have to notify a federal jury if they will present any defense witnesses or go straight to closing arguments for the jury.
The prosecution presented its last witness Friday evening. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson ordered defense attorneys to notify him Saturday if they will call witnesses. Defense attorney Susan James said Friday night they were undecided.
The judge told jurors that they will hear closing statements Tuesday if there are no defense witnesses.
The defense presented only one witness in Alabama's first gambling corruption trial last year.
