An area man has been indicted in connection with the 2009 death of a Piedmont woman. The Anniston Star reports 52-year-old Jimmy Ray Steed of Piedmont was charged on Friday in the death of 28-year-old Carla Michelle Fuqua of Piedmont.
Fuqua’s body was found in December in a wooded area near her home. Calhoun County Sheriff’s investigators have been working on the case since Fuqua went missing from her home in October of 2009. According to The Star, Steed is also a suspect in three different missing persons cases dating back to 1990.
Steed is currently in the Calhoun County jail on a $300,000 bond, where he has been since August 2 on multiple drug charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 17 to face murder charges.
