A man died shortly after being found guilty of sexual abuse of a child in Tuscaloosa County Monday.
Sgt. Dale Phillips with the Tuscaloosa County Homicide Unit says that William Thomas Moore, Jr. was seeng placing an unknown substance in his mouth after the verdict.
When asked what the substance was, Moore reportedly told court staff it was his daily medication. When Moore was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail he began to suffer medical distress.
Authorities treated him on scene and then transported him to DCH Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Phillips says Moore's cause of death is currently unknown and the investigation continues.
