Some of the bingo bribery charges against Milton McGregor and lobbyist Tom Coker are being dropped. A judge on Friday approved a prosecution request to dismiss four of McGregor's mail fraud charges. One mail fraud charge against Coker will also be dismissed. Prosecutors did not say why the charges were being dropped. They presented no evidence to support them before resting their case. The move leaves ten charges against McGregor and two against Coker. The final prosecution witness was an FBI agent who worked on the investigation into possible vote buying. Federal judge Myron Thompson has told defense attorneys to inform him Saturday on whether they will present any witnesses. He also today told jurors they could hear closing arguments as early as Tuesday. The retrial has gone faster than last year's original gambling trial. It took ten weeks to complete. The current trial has so far only taken three weeks.
