(WDNG) - An investigation has been launched into the death of a four-month-old child, two weeks after a man and woman were charged in the death of five-year-old Gregory Caver.
Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday, several Anniston police vehicles were seen outside of the emergency room at Regional Medical Center. Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said they were investigating the death of a 4-month-old child. He said a cause of death had not been determined and would not release any further information until Monday.
While emergency vehicles at an emergency room entrance are not uncommon, at least 10 vehicles from Anniston police, fire and rescue, and area ambulance services were parked outside of Regional Medical Center shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Friday.
This is the second child death police have investigated in two weeks. Five-year-old Gregory Caver of Anniston died at Children's Hospital in Birmingham on July 26. The boy's mother and her boyfriend were arrested after a weekend investigation and charged with capital murder for allegedly beating Caver for wetting himself.
