A Hokes Bluff man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to more than a dozen child pornography charges.
In February, 30-year-old Jonathan Wesley Greend pleaded guilty to 14 counts of possession of obscene material.
Greene was sentenced Wednesday as a habitual felony offender, someone who has at least three prior felony convictions, to 25 years for each of the counts. The judge ruled that the sentences should run concurrently, according to the Etowah County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Greene had more than 1,500 obscene images and more than 50 videos of very young children, most under the age of 10.
Investigators believe Greene got most of the obscene material over the internet. They said it did not appear that he produced the photos or videos himself.
The FBI and Etowah County Sheriff's Office led a joint investigation which resulted in Greene's arrest in June 2012.
Etowah County D.A. Jimmie Harpe said he was pleased with the sentencing.
"This case involved some particularly disturbing material, and was difficult for all involved. I believe that justice was done today," Harp said in a release.
