A former Anniston police officer is in jail accused of sexually abusing a girl. 39 year old Thomas Anthony Gassaway of Wellington is charged with sexual abuse of a child under twelve.
According to court documents, the incident took place between November 21, 2009 and July 1, 2013. Reports indicate he resigned from the Anniston Police Department last month after five years of service.
Gassaway will appear in court September 5. He's currently being held in the Cleburne County jail on a half million dollar cash bond.
