(WDNG) - Anniston police on Sunday were investigating an attempted assault that occurred on the 1100 block of Boynton Ave. Police reports indicate a shooting occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. which left at least two 9mm shell casings.
Anniston police Cpt. Allen George on Monday said a male suspect had gone to the residence to retrieve items from his wife’s vehicle. George said a 26-year-old woman told police she had given the suspect access to the trunk of the car and became angry when she refused to relinquish the keys.
The victim reportedly told police she started to talk away when she heard a gunshot. According to George, she turned to see the suspect with a handgun as he fired another shot.
No injuries were reported and George said the suspect fled on foot. According to police reports, any suspect could face felony first-degree assault charges.
