(WDNG) - More than $700,000 will soon be up for grabs by Alabama entrepreneurs. Gov. Robert Bentley on Friday announced the Alabama Launchpad program will soon provide opportunities for individuals with a business idea to receive expert guidance and establish working relationships.
With more than $733,000 from the Alabama Research Alliance Trust Fund, the program will also conduct an annual business-plan competition with winners receiving a share of a $100,000 prize to develop their business.
The program is separated into two competitions for 2013 and the first ended in May when more than 20 start-up companies competed.
The second competition is currently underway and winners will be chosen on Sept. 26 at a Birmingham event. Past Alabama Launchpad participants have created more than 150 jobs and raised more than $14 million in additional funding for their business.
