(WDNG) - The Calhoun County Animal Control facility and recovering drug addicts will soon be teaming up to assist one another.
The Calhoun County Commission on Thursday approved contracts with the Calhoun County Animal Control to provide additional staff for the animal control facility.
Animal control chairperson Janet Odom says the commission spearheaded the effort to provide jobs for area residents currently participating in substance abuse recovery programs.
The commission will pay $200 per worker each month for four temporary workers coming from Center of Hope.
Contracts were also approved for temporary workers from Tri-Cities and New Recovery.
Odom said the temporary workers will simply provide any assistance needed by the facility’s existing staff. Commissioner J.D. Hess told Odom directly after Thursday’s commission meeting that he will contact Center of Hope to inform them of new possibilities for members of the program.
