(WDNG) - The Calhoun County Commission contributes $15,000 to expand education in the area. The Calhoun County Commission on Thursday approved several pieces of business, including two that contribute money to local education organizations. The Little Tree Preschool received a $10,000 contribution and the Public Education Foundation of Anniston received a $5,000 contribution.
The Little Tree Preschool in Jacksonville is part of The Learning Tree, Inc. and according to their website, works with the psychology department at Jacksonville State University to provide individualized support for preschool-aged children.
The Public Education Foundation of Anniston, or PEFA, is a private organization that supports “at-risk” students in the Anniston area by increasing their marketability and awareness and providing educators with support and assistance.
Early in July, PEFA received $100,000 from the Stewart Family Foundation and more than $121,000 from the Anniston City Council.
