(WDNG) - An alleged fight resulting from a poker game lands two siblings in jail. Anniston police on Monday morning arrested 31-year-old Sofeni Joseph Mareko and his 18-year-old sister Tautalasoo Vailua Sesepsara.
Anniston police Cpt. Allen George said officers were called to the 100 block of Stewart St. in north Anniston just before 8 a.m. on Monday and as they arrived, saw Mareko strike Sesepsara in the head. George said he told police his sister had “disrespected” him while she said the argument began during a poker game. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence.
During the investigation, George said Sesepsara walked to her residence on Scott St. to retrieve identification when officers heard a woman scream at that location. Officers reportedly entered the residence to find a 28-year-old female bleeding from her mouth and accusing Sesepsara of striking her in the face.
According to George, the victim is an in-law to the siblings and was reportedly trying to take a phone from Sesepsara when she was hit.
The siblings were taken to the Anniston city jail and later released on a $500 bond each. Police reports indicate each will be in court on August 14 to face misdemeanor third-degree domestic violence charges.
