(WDNG) - Police are searching for suspects in a violent incident at Glen Addie Homes on Wednesday which involved a shooting. Anniston police Cpt. Allen George said no injuries were reported after a series of incidents on the 500 block of Glen Addie Ave. on Wednesday evening.
According to George, the incident began sometime after 6 p.m. on Wednesday when a 24-year-old female and her brother were walking near Glen Addie Homes. A man followed by three of his family members allegedly approached the siblings as they walked. George said the brother and the suspect did not get along, so the brother went inside to avoid a confrontation.
The sister reportedly told the suspect to leave the area when she saw he had a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol. George said the suspect then fired two shots at the sister before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police were called when someone nearby saw the suspect shoot at another 27-year-old female. George said the suspect then walked about three blocks to the intersection of 4th St. and Pine Ave. and fired about three more shots at the person calling the police. He then reportedly dropped at least one of the guns and fled again.
Authorities believe the suspect’s mother retrieved bullet casings and the discarded weapon before police arrived.
The suspect reportedly returned to the apartment later that evening to visit his girlfriend. George said police returned when the 26-year-old girlfriend reported the suspect physically assaulted her and shot her television.
The couple then argued in her mother’s vehicle and George said he again assaulted her in the car. She fled to a neighbor for help when the suspect reportedly fired more shots at the neighbor. Police reports indicate the suspect fired additional shots at the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
George said suspects have been identified. According to police reports, potential suspects face multiple charges, including felony discharging a firearm into a building, felony assault, and second-degree misdemeanor hindering prosecution for allegedly removing evidence from a crime scene.
