The IRS is planning an auction of clothing next week at an Opelika self storage company. The Internal Revenue Service announced they will auction off more than 100 containers of new specialty clothing beginning at Uncle Bob’s Self Storage in Opelika beginning at 2 p.m. on July 24.
The clothing was seized for nonpayment of taxes, and according to the AP, the items come from Alexander City-based THY Enterprises. The THY website says the company was founded in 1997 to create fabrics with moisture management and temperature control for clothing over surgical sites and other sensitive areas.
The auction will include men’s and women’s pants, undergarments, T-shirts, shorts, and medical socks. The sale will continue at 9 a.m. on July 25 at the same location, and the IRS says personal checks and credit cards will not be accepted at the auction.
