(WDNG) - The Anniston City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a schedule of fees and charges for the Parks and Recreation Department. Parks and Rec director Steven Folks told the council that the only changes were a $1 increase on golf cart fees at Cane Creek Golf Course and a new $25 rental fee on parks that include restroom facilities.
The increased fees reportedly come in response to the need of irrigation at the McClellan-area golf course. He said that the changes put his department more in line with similar departments in other cities but Anniston fees are still well below the norm.
Council member Millie Harris also introduced a desire to coordinate events held in Anniston’s downtown district with the Spirit of Anniston. Mayor Vaughn Stewart said a special events task force could potentially work with Parks and Rec and the Spirit of Anniston along with other groups like the Community Actors Studio Theater.
