A community continues to mourn the loss of 9-year old Savannah Hardin, prosecutors allege her grandmother, Joyce Garrard and her stepmother, Jessica Hardin are responsible for "running the child to death" for 3 hours for disobeying them. Farrah Ashley said that her daughter, a third grader like Savannah , told her multiple times she felt sorry for her schoolmate because she was punished by being made to run around or pick up sticks. " I had know idea that this could happen," said Ashley. Privately, people in the Carlisle community call Garrard was a stern disciplinarian. "Curse you out just by looking at you," said one woman. Ashley confirmed what several said privately "Mean as hell," said Ashley "Ms. Garrard will be vindicated," said Garrard's defense attorney Dani Bone "Joyce Garrard, like the rest of the family, is grieving the loss of their precious Savannah." Ashley is now second guessing herself wondering if she had paid closer attention to her daughter's playmate or listened to what her daughter had told her, would Savannah still be alive. She says it is a lesson learned. "We need to pay more attention to our neighbors."
