The NCAA has cleared all of Alabama State University’s athletic programs for participation in postseason play. The Associated Press reports ASU athletic director Melvin Hines was notified on Friday that the NCAA has finished its evaluation.
The school had reportedly submitted data and information to the NCAA after the announcement of penalties related to Academic Progress Rate scores. Penalties were imposed on the school’s baseball, volleyball, football and men’s basketball teams but the school was given an opportunity to submit additional data.
Friday’s announcement lifts the bans on football and basketball teams and the AP reports bans on baseball and volleyball had already been lifted. ASU’s 18 athletic teams will now be eligible for postseason play--assuming they make it that far in competition.
