Authorities continue to search for a wanted man who fled from a traffic stop Tuesday. The search, which began in Jefferson County, prompted two school lock downs. 34-year-old Kevin Campbell fled after a stop on Sweeney Hollow Road near Main street in Pinson Tuesday and allegedly broke into a manufactured house and stole an ATV.
Some authorities believe he burglarized a Blount County house, which belongs to Remlap resident Michael Jordan, Wednesday morning. The Blount County search ended around 4 pm then moved into Jefferson County near the Warrior area, according to officials at the Blount County search site.
"I was just in shock and couldn't believe it," said Jordan.
Jordan said the suspect stole more than $8,000 worth of items, including coins and jewelry. Authorities believe the suspect took time to change clothes in a creek nearby. "They found where he had apparently gone and shaved and did a little cleaning up in the creek back here, so I'm just amazed," added Jordan.
While Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington said there's no evidence to suggest Campbell was the burglar Wednesday, he added: "If you come in contact with Campbell, do not approach him. The guy is wanted on warrants for drugs and dope. There's no indication that he's violent but still do not approach him. Notify your nearest law enforcement agency, and let us handle it."
