(WDNG) - 42-year-old Jerre Comer Self, Jr. was arrested on Wednesday and charged with felony second-degree receiving stolen property. Anniston police Cpt. Allen George said the burglary was originally reported in late February but the victim was not aware of exactly when the theft took place.
According to George, the victim was approached by a friend selling a wedding band, gold bracelet, gold chain and a pennant on February 27 and recognized the jewelry as his own. The investigation led police to the friend who identified Self as the person who sold him the jewelry.
George said police interviewed Self who said he had purchased the jewelry from a woman in Blue Mountain. A warrant was issued for Self in March for receiving stolen property. George said most of the jewelry was recovered except for the gold chain.
Arrest records indicate Self was arrested at a home in the Golden Springs area on Wednesday and taken to the Anniston jail. He was later released on a $5,000 bond and is expected in court on July 1.
