(WDNG) - A mobile home in northwest Anniston was considered a total loss according to a police reports after it burned down early Tuesday morning. A 58-year-old woman woke up just after 5 a.m. on Tuesday to find her home on Lee Lane near Bynum Leatherwood Road engulfed in flames.
Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said the woman jumped out a window and ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and Sparks said a preliminary investigation suggests the fire started near the mobile home’s back door.
The woman was taken to Regional Medical Center and later to UAB Hospital for injuries sustained from the incident. There was no word on the woman’s condition. Sparks said the suspicious fire is under investigation and police have a person of interest they would like to talk to concerning the fire.
According to a police report, potential suspects behind the Tuesday morning fire could face felony first-degree arson charges.
