(WDNG) - Governor Robert Bentley says energy efficient business can become more competitive and create jobs. Bentley on Tuesday addressed the Alabama Summit on Industrial Energy Efficency at the Capitol on Tuesday, speaking to more than 70 representatives from businesses and other organizations.
A release on Tuesday says the summit was aimed at developing ideas about how state government can assist industries in cutting expenses by implementing voluntary energy efficiency measures. One proposal is for the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to gather information from state and federal programs that would aid business in upgrading to energy efficient measures.
The National Governor’s Association last year selected Alabama to receive a grant to fund the industrial energy project. Along with ADECA, the project included input from state agencies, utility companies and other associations involved in industrial energy use.
