A man is arrested for trying to steal food, clothing, and electronics from an Anniston Walmart. Anniston police late Friday arrested 26-year-old Jesse Jaquice Jemison for third-degree theft in connection with an incident at the Walmart in the Lenlock area.
Police reports indicate Jemison tried to steal about $5 worth of food, $10 worth of apparent clothing and a 40-inch flat screen TV worth more than $350 around 9:30 p.m. on Friday. Anniston police Cpt. Allen George said on Monday that Jemison was confronted by employees about the merchandise before he shoved a worker and fled the scene without the merchandise. A citizen at the store reportedly called police.
Weaver police pulled over a Mercury Mariner being driven by Jemison around 10 p.m. and George said that was when Anniston police made the arrest. Jemison was released from the Anniston city jail on a $500 bond and faces misdemeanor third-degree theft charges.
