Anniston police investigate the theft of hunting bows from a local business. Anniston police are currently investigating a reported theft of about $15,000 worth of compound hunting bows that occurred sometime over the weekend. Anniston police Cpt. Allen George said the owner of Champion Archery and Hunting was notified by a friend over the weekend that a door to the store appeared to be forced open.
Police arrived at the scene on the 4200 block of Old Birmingham Highway on Sunday evening to find that the power box feeding electricity to the building had been damaged. George said the box was probably tampered with to kill any burglar alarms that would have notified police. 15 compound bows were reported missing from the store’s showroom and another 10 were reported missing from the store’s storage area.
No arrests have been made but potential suspects could face felony third-degree burglary charges.
