U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell is scheduled to hold a forum concerning immigration reform efforts. The Associated Press reports Democratic Rep. Terri Sewell will hold a the forum in Birmingham on Friday afternoon to explain Congressional efforts to address immigration.
Friday’s forum will reportedly include U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez, who is an Illinois Democrat part of a House group working on immigration legislation. Friday’s forum is planned for 1 p.m. at Birmingham’s Civil Rights Institute. According to the AP, the forum is hosted by Rep. Sewell, the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice and the Hispanic Interest Coalition of Alabama.
Friday’s forum comes about four weeks after the Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice held a rally in Birmingham’s Linn Park which drew more than 1,000 people supporting federal immigration reform.
