The University of Alabama at Birmingham will hold an emergency drill that will use the sounds of gunfire in the Magic City. According to an alert from the school, UAB Emergency Management is planning an emergency response exercise for Friday afternoon at the Hill University Center.
The drill will include UAB faculty, staff and students along with UAB and Birmingham police departments. Actors appearing to have serious injuries will be transported to UAB hospital and non-participant spectators will be prohibited for safety reasons. According to the UAB news release, the school is required by federal law to conduct an annual emergency preparedness drill.
Friday’s drill will begin sometime after 1 p.m. in Birmingham.
