Registration for Alabama’s alligator hunting season starts on Tuesday with only 275 tags being issued next month. AL.com reports registration for the random computer drawing will begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m. The registration is scheduled to end on the morning of July 12 and an electronic drawing will be held later that same day.
According to AL.com, registration into the drawing is $6 and hunters 16 years or older can apply multiple times. 275 non-transferable alligator possession tags will be issued to hunters in three hunting zones across the state. Fifty of the tags will be issued for a hunt area in three west-central Alabama counties along the Alabama River. 150 tags will be issued for hunting on the Mobile-Tensaw Delta compared to 125 tags issued during the past four seasons. AL.com reports eight counties in southeast Alabama will have to share the 75 tags that will be distributed for that hunt site.
Hunting season varies from site to site but will be held most weekends in August.
