(WDNG) - The Alabama Department of Public Health warns about potentially contaminated drugs shipped by a Tennessee manufacturer. Methylprednisolone acetate (MPA) used in the treatment of arthritis and other joint disorders has been voluntarily recalled by the compounding manufacturer Main Street Family Pharmacy of Newbern, Tenn.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration was notified earlier this month of patients who developed complications after taking the injectable steroid product. The Alabama Department of Public Health issued a news release on Thursday saying a single healthcare provider in the state was shipped the MPA. According to Thursday’s release, a single unidentified clinic received the possibly contaminated drugs.
No known adverse impacts from the injectable steroid product have been reported in Alabama.
