A string of arrests by local law enforcement agencies has led to the recovery of items stolen from across the area. WEAC-TV reports 22 arrests were made on 38 different warrants on Tuesday. The arrests were the result of over a year of investigations by the Calhoun/Cleburne County Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force along with agencies in Oxford, Anniston and Jacksonville.
According to WEAC-TV, two stolen vehicles and items stolen from an area elementary school were recovered during the operation. Anniston Mayor Vaughn Stewart tells the television station that the move is a part of creating a new culture in the area. He said this is just one of multiple operations to come that are designed to clean up the streets in the local community.
