A plane landing at a small airport in southeast Alabama experienced an unusual event when it struck a deer on Tuesday. A preliminary report by the Federal Aviation Administration says a Cessna CitationJet struck the deer as it was landing at the Clayton Municipal Airport in Barbour County on Tuesday evening around 8:30.
An official with the city of Clayton said that fencing is around the airport but deer have been known to wander onto the runway in the past. The incident was fatal for the deer but the pilot and three passengers on the plane were not injured. Only minor damage to the twin-jet plane was reported.
