Computer-based attacks will have a new company combating the growing number of cyber security problems. The Associated Press reports the University of Alabama at Birmingham is starting the intelligence company Malcovery to provide real-time information to identify cyber attacks as they occur worldwide.
UAB computer forensics office director Gary Warner will serve as the company’s chief technologist while remaining in his position with the university. Malcovery is an outgrowth of Warner’s work identifying computer security threats.
The public-private partnership behind the new company is jointly based in Birmingham and Pittsburgh, Pa.
