A woman had her purse stolen from a north Anniston parking lot. That purse contained her life savings. The Anniston Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred in a bank parking lot shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Anniston police Sgt. Chris Sparks said a 79-year-old woman was in the parking preparing to deposit her life savings when she dropped her purse. An unidentified individual helped the woman gather her things before taking the purse and fleeing in another vehicle.
Police reports indicate the purse contained a driver’s license, social security card, a debit card and $165,000 in cash. Sparks said few details could be released at this time citing an ongoing investigation.
According to a police report, potential suspects could face felony first degree theft charges.
